What is CASA? CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. There are more than 1100 kids in foster care. CASA are trained and speak for a child's best interest in court. There are foster parents, teachers, DHS workers, attorneys, and others involved. CASA advocates are volunteers who help gather all the information from all of the different people involved and turn it into something meaningful for the judge. Many things happen because there is no one that can do this for the child.

What can I do to inspect my roof for damage or leaks? Many times you can see little granules in your gutter. These are from your roof and can mean that your roof is bad. You can also see the granules hit your sidewalk. One of the problems can be inadequate ventilation in your roof. This lessons the life of your shingles. You will need more ventilation or insulation. When it is hot there is little air flow. You need good soffit ventilation, exhaust ventilation, ridge vents, turtle or passive vents. You can even put ridge vents on without replacing your roof. As an investor what types of loans are available for me? As an investment, the property is not occupied by the owner. You must have 20% down in order to get an investment loan. Commercial investment properties require more than 20% down. A bigger downpayment is required because there is more risk. Most owners will walk away from an investment property before they walk away from a property they live in. The rates will be the same however with a 20% down-payment you will pay 3 points for that. You can avoid some of those fees by increasing the down-payment. You can also increase the interest rate and keep your fees lower. It is important to get good advice when looking into an investment property and loan.

Do Home Owners Associations need insurance? There is insurance for property damage or bodily injury. This is not what I would consider as important as insurance for the board members- directors and officers liability. For example if a guy wants to build a shed in the back yard and he feels like the board isn't giving him the attention. He invites a board member over who says it looks good to me. That individual member doesn't have authority on his own and the homeowner has started building already. The board says it isn't OK and tell him he has to stop and remove the building. The owner is mad and decides to sue. It is also important to have insurance when you have a neighborhood park or pool. Basically each owner owns part of the property. As a result of that ownership, that association can come back to the entire neighborhood for money.

How do I exterminate caterpillars? Eastern Tent Caterpillars are now building nests on trees. When you see a problem you can treat it yourself or you can call professionals to do it. When we treat it we treat the entire tree up to about 40-60 feet high. Although we can't get into the web, when they eat the foliage they will die. They will not kill the tree however, your tree will look bad for a few months.
