What types of programs are there for first time home buyers? There is a first time home buyer tax credit of $8000 right now. This is available for first time home buyers. The closing on the home must be complete by December 31, 2009.

What is a good debt ratio? Your house payment with insurance and taxes should be 29% or less of your gross income. Your total debt, including house payment, insurance, taxes, credit cards, auto loans, etc. should be around 43% or less.
