CASA
Property Damage
This show originally aired May 22, 2010.

The topics for this show include:  Bug of the Week with Duane Montgomery of Montgomery Exterminating;    Things that Make You Go Hmm with Mike Tedford of Tedford Insurancel  BOK Mortgage Minute with Karen Heston of BOK.

What is CASA?  Court Appointed Special Advocates.  There are approximately 1500 children in the custody of the state here in Tulsa County.  These are kids in foster homes or shelters.  With these cases, there are so many people that are working with their case to some degree.  There are attorneys, judges, case workers. foster parents, birth parents, etc.  The CASA volunteer talks with all of these people and speaks for the child in court.  They talk to the judge to give him information that they might not otherwise get.  There are classes starting  May 24, 2010 to become a volunteer.  For more information call 918-584-2272 or www.tulsacasa.org

Property Damage-   Adjusters sometimes forget that this insured has probably never experienced this before.  Ask your adjuster questions.  Remember that claims are negotiable.  The adjuster uses a computer program to come up with an average.  Sometimes that figure will not be enough to cover the damage.  The adjuster is there to help work through that process.  Don't be afraid to cash the check from your insurance company (not another party).  If it is your insurance company, there will generally be a supplement in the contract that allows for you to cash the check and if it is not enough, you can negotiate more to cover the damage.

If you have a tree come down during a storm, unless there is damage done, there is usually no coverage for removal or cleanup.  In Oklahoma many companies as a deductible for wind and hail since it is very common here.

For all your insurance needs in Oklahoma, contact Mike Tedford of Tedford Insurance at 918-299-2345 or www.tedfordinsurance.com

What's happening in the single family residential market?  The end of last year it was almost dead.  The beginning of this year there was a surge  9759 homes listed on the market.  Increase of 11.9% from last year.  4866 sold this year, up 765 from last year, a 15.7% increase.  The last date for closing on the tax credit (your contract had to have been dated the end of April) is the end of June.

Can roach eggs hatch in someones mouth?  German Roaches actually carry around their eggs until right before they hatch.  It would not be likely that one could hatch in someones mouth.  Roaches could actually get in your ear and cause problems.  If you have roaches in your home, be cautious if you have children.

Silverfish are getting ready to come down from the attic to get out of the heat.  Call now to have your attic dusted before they start heading down into your home.

For all your Tulsa, OK area pest control needs, contact Duane Montgomery of Montgomery Exterminating at 918-438-4885 or www.montgomeryexterminating.com.
