The topics of this show include: Information on Cancer and Treatments with Dr. Adriene Weistner
The National Institutes of Health Disease Studies- Karen Heston with BOK Mortgage was diagnosed with Leukemia about 4 years ago. About 1 1/2 years ago Karen applied for a Natural History Study and was accepted. They watch the patients and their health to help learn about cancer. This is done through the National Institutes for Health in Baltimore, Maryland. The NIH has a clinical center that allow Doctors to see and treat patients through this study. We see all different types of diseases. The information that we get from these studies is made public in meetings and journals. It helps bring together researchers and outreach. There are studies that are looking at the prevention of cancer through nutrition. The treatments at the center are free of charge for patients and the patients agree to participate in a study. We are trying to find out how to optimize treatments. We are trying to bring together the doctors, researchers, the lab, and others involved in treatment. We have physicians that are closely connected to the science of cancer and the body.
For more information about these trials and the National Institutes of Health visit their website at www.nih.gov. As a patient you can call 1-800-411-1222 for more information about your type of disease or cancer.
How difficult is it to qualify for a loan? You don't have to have 20% downpayment if you are using an FHA or VA loan. Don't assume that you can't qualify, there is a lot of misinformation out there. Call Karen for more information. There are many lenders who will not work with you if you are getting a loan below $100,000. Don't worry about whether or not your Oklahoma lender will work with you, call Karen Heston of BOK, 918-230-9432 or visit her website.
What is a short sale? A short sale is a term used to describe paying the bank/mortgage company less than what's owed on the house. In some circumstances, mortgage companies will allow this to avoid the fees and hassles that come with a property that goes through the foreclosure process. Many homeowners will just avoid calling the mortgage company out of shame. Don't do that. Banks don't want to foreclose. Homeowners go through depression, panic and many other emotions. A short sale will protect you from a credit stand point and protect your lending and employment opportunities. If you are in a financial hardship, don't wait until the last minute, act sooner and don't wait for foreclosure. Bankruptcy and foreclosures stay on your record for 7 years.

Is the insurance on an investment property different than on a homeowners policy? As a homeowner you have a specific policy designed for homeowners. There are many parts of an insurance policy. An investment policy will be different because the owner isn't living in the property. Have your Oklahoma insurance policies reviewed, call Mike Tedford of Tedford Insurance at 918-299-2345 or www.tedfordinsurance.com
